Presidential Search
Greetings:
As you may know, Dr. Lewis Walker has announced his decision to step down from the Presidency of Lawrence Technological University at the end of this academic year. We are fortunate that he has agreed to serve as Chancellor for an additional year and benefit the University with his knowledgeable contributions, but the Board now faces the challenge of finding a new President who can continue the good work and positive momentum that Lewis and his predecessors provided our University.
We have launched a national search to recruit a new President. We are intent upon finding the very best candidates and welcome your suggestions and nominations for this very important leadership role.
Befitting the importance of our task, a President Search Committee has been formed and the Board has retained the services of a highly regarded consultant. The Search Committee is comprised of 13 dedicated individuals representing all of the university’s constituencies. These individuals have graciously and selflessly agreed to devote whatever time is necessary to assure that the Board has an exemplary pool of candidates to consider for the post.
The Board has also retained the services of R. William (Bill) Funk, one of the nation’s leading higher education search consultants. Mr. Funk has an impressive track record of helping universities around the country attract outstanding new leaders. Among the institutions currently headed by an individual he helped recruit are: Cornell University, Purdue University, Georgia Tech, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, University of Washington, University of Minnesota, Iowa State University, and numerous other prominent private and public institutions.
