Changing the Way Business Does Business
Knowledge is the foundation for positive change—and the core focus of everything we do at the College of Management. Intellectual curiosity, specialized skills, and a broad, next-generation perspective are must-have tools for leaders and thinkers in the 21st century global economy. In a world where change is a constant, learning is your best defense. Complex problems can be daunting—but they also drive opportunity: to develop cutting-edge products and processes, to pursue new career paths, and to update your knowledge base.
Since our founding in 1932, our College of Management programs have melded theory with practice that helps accelerate your personal and professional growth. Our versatile faculty have one foot in academic research and the other in the fast-paced business world—assuring the delivery of curriculum that is fresh, current, and relevant. Through targeted course work in all of our programs, our graduates learn not only how to be a member of the team, but also how to lead that team.
Universities and colleges, like other organizations, must also grow and change. Over the past few years there have been many new developments in our College of Management. At the undergraduate level, our best students can now be simultaneously admitted to both our undergraduate and graduate program. Students will be able to take select graduate course work that can be applied toward both degrees. We have added a concentration in entrepreneurial management to our undergraduate program in business management, and the Healthcare IT certificate program is also available for undergraduate students.
We have revamped our flagship Master of Business Administration program, and have established accompanying graduate certificate programs in Nonprofit Management, Healthcare IT, Project Management, Interdisciplinary Sustainability, and more. We have developed a new master's degree program for the Army, Navy, and Air Force designed to enhance the leadership abilities of the next generation of civilian leaders employed by the military. Our recently restructured Master of Science in Information Systems now offers three leading-edge concentrations: Enterprise Security Management, Business Intelligence, and Project Management. Our Doctor of Business Administration and Doctor of Mangement in Information Technology programs have produced over 50 scholar-practitioners who have published a wide range of dissertation research and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and conference presentations. Our new Ph.D. in Management program will accept its first students for the Fall 2012 semester.
The College is also heavily engaged with the University's new partnership with Alloy Education to market the University's online programs on a national level. The College supports several fully online degree programs including the MBA, MSIS, BSIT, BSBM, Project Management, Nonprofit Management, and Healthcare IT.
The focus of the College of Management is clearly on the future, and our overarching goal is to achieve accreditation from the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This goal is the centerpiece of the College of Management Strategic Plan, a five-year vision for the development of the College.
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Alan McCord, Interim Dean
