Academic Scholarships
Freshman and Transfer Students

Lawrence Tech, through the Office of Financial Aid, annually awards a number of academic scholarships to freshman and transfer students. Application deadlines: March 1 and June 15, respectively.

College-Specific Scholarships

College of Architecture and Design - Portfolio-Based Scholarships

There are several competetive and significant scholarship enhancements (in addition to academic scholarships) available for students entering the College of Architecture and Design.

Programs include:

  • Architecture
  • Interior Architecture
  • Imaging: Graphic Design
  • Imaging: Digital Arts
  • Game Art

Submission Requirements:

  • 10-15 images of work (including details)
  • All images saved in proper format
  • Images should be saved as .JPG file format at 300 dpi and no larger than 6 inches in either dimension
  • Files should be saved in the following format: lastnamefirstname_scholarship_1.jpg (Ex. smithjohn_scholarship_1.jpg, smithjohn_scholarship_2.jpg, etc.)
  • Projects must be completed individually.  No collaborative work.
  • Any art media will be considered (drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, computer design, etc.)
  • Freehand and observational drawing is encouraged
  • Completed admission application to LTU by March 31

Submit digital portfolios by March 31 to portfolio@ltu.edu with "Portfolio Based Scholarship - CoAD" in the subject lin.  A notice of receipt of the portfolio will be sent.

Freshman Scholarships

Buell Honor Scholarships

  • Two-five awarded each year
  • Full tuition for four years (eight semesters)
  • Paid registration, laboratory, course and activity fees
  • Additional $1,000 each year for books and supplies
  • Renewable each year provided student is enrolled for at least 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a 3.00 GPA or better
  • To qualify: High school GPA of 3.8 or better and outstanding ACT or SAT scores

 
Presidential Scholarships

  • Limited number awarded each year to first-time students
  • $18,000 annually ($72,000 for eight semesters)
  • Renewable each year provided student is enrolled for a least 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a 3.00 GPA or better
  • To qualify: High school GPA of 3.8 or better and ACT composite of 30 or higher/SAT score of 1340 or higher

 

Elite Scholarships

  • Limited number awarded each year to first-time students
  •  $16,000 annually ($64,000 for eight semesters)
  • Renewable each year provided student is enrolled for a least 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a 3.00 GPA or better
  • To qualify: High school GPA of 3.60 or better and ACT composite of 28 or higher/SAT score of 1260 or higher

 

Pre-eminent Scholarships

  • Limited number awarded each year to first-time students
  •  $13,000 annually ($52,000 for eight semesters)
  • Renewable each year provided student is enrolled for a least 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a 3.00 GPA or better
  • To qualify: High school GPA of 3.50 or better and ACT composite of 26 or higher/SAT score of 1180 or higher

 

University Honor Scholarships

  • Limited number awarded each year to first-time students
  • $10,000 annually ($40,000 for eight semesters)
  • Renewable each year, provided student is enrolled for a least 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a 2.70 or better GPA
  • To qualify: High school GPA of 3.30 or better and ACT composite of 25 or higher/SAT score of 1130 or higher

 

Trustee Scholarships

  • $6,000 annually ($24,000 for eight semesters)
  • Renewable each year provided student is enrolled for at least 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a 2.70 or better GPA
  • To qualify: High school GPA of 3.00 or better and ACT composite of 24 or higher/SAT score of 1090 or higher

 

 


 

Transfer Scholarships 

Pre-eminent Scholarships

  • $13,000 annually ($26,000 for four semesters)
  • Renewable each year provided student is enrolled for at least 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a 3.0 or better GPA
  • To qualify:  student must have a GPA of 3.80 or better and 60 semester hours of transfer credit

 University Honor Scholarships

  • $10,000 annually ($40,000 for eight semesters)
  • Renewable each year provided student is enrolled for at least 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a 2.70 or better GPA
  • To qualify:  student must have a GPA of 3.60 or better and 24 semester hours of transfer credit

 

Trustee Scholarships (Full-time students)

  • $4,500 annually ($18,000 for eight semesters)
  • Renewable each year provided student is enrolled for at least 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a 2.70 or better GPA
  • To qualify:  student must have a GPA of 3.00 or better and 3 hours of transfer credit

 

Trustee Scholarships (Part-time students)

  • $3,000 annually ($12,000 for eight semesters)
  • Renewable each year provided student is enrolled for 6 - 11 credit hours each semester and maintains a 2.70 or better GPA
  • To qualify:  student must have a GPA of 3.00 or better and 3 hours of transfer credit

 

National Guard

  • Lawrence Tech will meet 25 percent of tuition and registration fees up to $2,000
  • Member must be in good standing and participating in either the Michigan Air or Army National Guard to be eligible for the State Education Reimbursement Program
