The faculty of the MCS department invite you to investigate the many ways in which the study of mathematics or computer science (or both!) can add value to your college education. In addition to three distinct undergraduate degree programs and one graduate program, the department also offers you the opportunity to earn a minor in either math or computer science to enhance your degree in any other discipline.

WHAT DO MATHEMATICIANS DO?

Majoring in mathematics gives you training in analytical thinking and equips you with a collection of powerful tools. Check the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics’ career page for more information.
For real live information, check with the Chair of Mathematics and Computer Science, Dr. David Bindschadler. He was a very theoretical research mathematician until he joined EDS to write production CAD/CAM software to be used by General Motors.  He has seen, used and even created new mathematics at work.
